Overview

What is CMS?

Carrier Management Suite (CMS) is an add-on in DAT One that helps brokers vet carriers through qualification settings. It reduces fraud risk, improves efficiency, and ensures better load matches.

Brokers

Qualification Settings (QS)

Brokers can use Qualification Settings to:

  • Filter trucks displayed during an equipment search.
  • Redact their loads' details from carriers that don’t meet the Qualification Settings
  1. Go to one.dat.com → My Account → Qualification Settings.
  2. Select your filters.
  3. SAVE AS COMPANY DEFAULT (not retroactive).

Brokers can filter carriers by:

  • Age of Authority – exclude carriers with <90 days authority, for example.
  • Safety Rating – exclude conditional/unsatisfactory ratings.
  • Inactive/Blank Authority – automatically excluded.
Qualification Settings Summary:
  • Accounts subscribed to CMS can save a Qualification Settings profile at the account level.
  • This profile can be applied when posting loads in DAT One Web and DAT One Mobile.
  • Default exclusions: Carrier accounts with inactive or out-of-service MC authority are always excluded (cannot be toggled in the UI), but only if the authority has been saved to the account.
  • Configurable options for Smart Postings include excluding carriers with:
    • Conditional or Unsatisfactory safety ratings
    • Insufficient MC age of authority (e.g., less than 90 days active authority)
  • Brokers can choose whether to apply their saved Qualification Settings each time they post a load via the load posting form in DAT One.

How to use Qualification Settings when posting shipments

Qualification Settings (QS) allow broker admins to control which carriers can see shipment details.

  • Carriers who meet QS will see the full posting, including rates.
  • Carriers who do not meet QS will see a redacted version.

Create and apply Qualification Settings

Admins can create Qualification Settings  that apply to all future shipment postings automatically.

  1. Go to Account > Qualification Settings from the left navigation.
  2. Set up your Qualification Settings.
  3. Select Post a Shipment.
  4. Complete the shipment form.
  5. Under Select Your Audience, confirm Apply Qualification Settings is toggled on (default).

Carriers who meet the requirements will see the unredacted post; others will see a redacted version.

Rules & Exceptions:

  • If your Account Admin (with Full or Corporate Full Authority) has not set up Qualification Settings, the option to apply them will not be available when posting a shipment. In this case, all carriers will see the full, unredacted load post.
  • When posting a shipment, only Admins can toggle the “Apply Qualification Settings” off.
  • When posting a shipment to a Private Network, Qualification Settings are automatically disabled. All carriers in the Private Network see the full posting.
  • Qualification Settings will apply automatically to all shipments in a bulk post, except for Private Network Shipments.

Reasons for Redacted Information

Carriers searching for loads in DAT One may see redacted load details when their carrier profile does not meet the broker's Qualification Settings.

Load details may be redacted for any of the following reasons:

  • Blank Authority – No authority listed in the Salesforce account. If a DOT number is present but no MC number, you can still access the MC information by looking it up using the DOT#.
  • Inactive Authority – MC authority is inactive or revoked in FMCSA.
  • Age of Authority– MC authority is active but does not meet minimum age requirements.
Note: Company System data errors or FMCSA data corrections can sometimes cause the recorded authority age to be incorrect.
  • Safety Rating – Carrier has a conditional or unsatisfactory safety rating.
  • Broker/Carrier Account – Account is registered as both broker and carrier.

Carrier Experience in DAT One

  • When searching for loads, CMS highlights requirements that are not met for specific postings.
  • Carriers will see a warning card with actionable steps.
  • The Company Profile Dashboard provides a status summary:
    • Green = Fully qualified
    • Yellow/Red = Areas that need attention

This process helps carriers understand why certain loads are restricted, prevents wasted outreach, and directs focus toward opportunities where they are more likely to qualify.

Path to heal - Missing Authority

Step 1:

Carriers who have a missing or inactive authority on their DAT Account, will see a pop-up message on DAT One Web requesting their USDOT number.

From the red banner at the top of the screen, click UPDATE.

Step 2:

Enter your DOT Number.

Step 3:

A confirmation message will appear stating that your DOT Number has been updated. Click OK to authorize your account.
At this point, the DOT# is saved to the user’s verification object; however, the verification process must still be completed for the DOT# to be added to the Salesforce account and for carrier qualifications to be updated.

Step 4:

Choose how you would like to receive the authorization code: TEXT or EMAIL.

Step 5:

The authorization code will be sent to the method you selected. Click DONE.

✅ Success:

If successful,
  • A message will appear at the bottom of the screen confirming: “Your Account Authorization is Approved.”
  • The USDOT number is pushed to Salesforce (in the DOT Number field).
  • “Company Verified At” timestamp is recorded, showing when the owner completed verification.

❌ Denied:

If failed, a message will appear at the bottom of the screen stating: “Your account Authorization was Denied”.

Troubleshooting

When receiving a call from a customer, follow these steps to ensure proper troubleshooting:

Step 1: Confirm the Issue

  • Do not assume blurred-out information is related to this feature.
  • Other issues (e.g., being stuck in demo mode, user is in demo mode.) may look similar.
  • Ask the customer what they see on their screen.
  • Pay close attention to any yellow banners.
    • If unsure, log into their instance via GoToAssist or request screenshots.

Step 2: Verification Actions

  1. Verify that the Owner responded by reviewing the “Owner Verified At” field in Salesforce.
  2. If the owner has verified outside of Path to Heal, transfer the case to Compliancefor a manual DOT update.
    • Only transfer if speaking to the Full Authority contact.
  3. If the owner has verified through Path to Heal but the account is still in an unverified state, escalate the issue to Specialists. Specialists will escalate to Engineering.
Note:Full, Corportae Full, or Corporate Change Authority contacts will have access to Path to Heal.

Step 3: Case Coding

  • Do NOT create duplicate cases.
  • Use the following case coding:
    • Subject: Path to Heal
    • Type: Account/Service
    • Reason: Account Info Update
    • Product: DAT One

Why are these Qualification Settings necessary?

  • Safety Rating - Ensures brokers are working with carriers who meet minimum safety standards, thereby reducing risk and liability for all parties involved.
  • Authority Age/Status - Screens for carriers with a valid and, in some cases, mature operating authority, which helps brokers avoid onboarding new or potentially unproven carriers whose credentials or business stability have not yet been established.

Upselling & Cross-Selling

  • CMS is sold as an Enterprise add-on ($2K/month+).
  • Talking points for agents:
    • “CMS gives brokers confidence in who they work with.”
    • “It saves time and cuts costs by reducing unqualified calls.”
    • “DAT One becomes the single source of truth for carrier management.”
  • Avoid: framing carriers as “scammers” or focusing only on fraud.
